Can you believe there are less than two months to go before the end of the year? This term is flying by!

This last month, I’ve been out and about visiting schools. It is always so rewarding to connect with our community. I would like to thank Bree Harvey-Bice and the team for their wonderful presentation on implementing QTR at Armidale Secondary College and thanks to Michael Sky from Croppa Creek Public School for the opportunity to travel to Moree and present to the Principals at the Barwon Community of Schools.

I’ve also completed a site visit at the Novotel in Sydney Olympic Park in preparation for the Quality Teaching in Practice conference on 3-4 June 2024 – get in quick because it will be here before you know it 😊

In this newsletter, you’ll discover wide range of exciting opportunities including our Term 1 2024 staff development days, a music teaching specific webinar, Strengthening Induction project information, and much more!

Plus, for a feel-good moment, why don’t you watch the World Teachers Day video that we we collaborated on this year? You can find it below.

Kick start Term 1 2024 with a QT staff development day

We are normally booked out months ahead (or even years in some cases) for tailored staff development day sessions. However, we have had two places open up for Term 1, 2024.

Our Quality Teaching Advisers are ready to bring a wealth of knowledge and practical insights to your school as a part of your next staff development day.

You can choose from one of our standard workshops: Quality Teaching Rounds, Enhancing Assessment Practice, or Strengthening Program Design, and we will tailor it to suit the number of teachers and your school’s specific goals and requirements.

Places are limited! Get in touch ASAP, if you would like us to visit your school in January 2024.

Don’t miss this opportunity to inspire and equip your school for a successful year ahead!

On October 27, we celebrated World Teachers Day!

We see first hand the impact that teachers make day in day out. You’re equipping problem solvers to tackle the great challenges of the 21st century and are committed to ensuring quality learning for all students despite the ongoing hurdles of the past few years.

If you missed it last week, the video below is a small way of saying thanks this World Teachers Day. Our future looks bright because of the incredible, influential, and inspirational work of teachers.

Free PD for early career teachers

The Strengthening Induction through Quality Teaching Rounds project is aimed at supporting early career teachers and their experienced colleagues.

Using the powerful processes of QTR, the project will:

  • Boost teacher morale,
  • Grow teacher confidence,
  • Increase job satisfaction, and
  • Improve retention rates of early career teachers through collaboration with experienced colleagues.

If you’re in your first three years of teaching or have early career teachers at your school, you can sign up to participate in a free QTR workshop and access ongoing support. We would like to acknowledge the support of the Australian Government in relation to this project.

Broadwater Public School wins a Teacher award

The 2023 winners of the Teacher Special Contribution award are the entire staff and community at Broadwater Public School in New South Wales, whose school, homes and township were devastated by floods in February 2022.

The Broadwater school staff and community were recognised for their superhuman efforts to ensure students had a school for them to come, heal, be kids, learn and grow.

Principal Bronwyn Cole and teacher Debbie Watts were interviewed by Teacher magazine. You can read the powerful article about their experiences below.

PhD scholarship opportunity

Enhancing outcomes in disadvantaged primary schools through research-practice partnership

Two scholarships are available as part of a new project being conducted by the Teachers and Teaching Research Centre (TTRC) at the University of Newcastle.

The project will investigate how building capacity for quality teaching, through the Quality Teaching Rounds (QTR) approach to professional development, supports disadvantaged schools to consistently deliver quality teaching and produce better outcomes for teachers, students, and communities.

The goal of this new project is to support schools in low socio-economic areas with the sustainable delivery of quality teaching.

Applications close 30 November 2023. If you have any questions, please contact Drew Miller on (02) 4348 4214 or via email at [email protected].

Want to do a PhD now? Here’s what you should know
