Put quality at the centre of your professional learning
Each teaching context is unique, which is why our evidence-backed, tailored, whole-school professional development is so effective. Our interactive sessions provide school leaders with a great opportunity to engage all staff in Quality Teaching (QT) professional development.
If you’re interested in learning about the QT Model, experiencing Quality Teaching Rounds (QTR), enhancing your assessment practice, or strengthening program design and curriculum implementation, we can develop and provide whole-school professional development for your staff tailored to your school’s strategic goals.
We also provide the flexibility to complete the PD in a format that works best for your school. Our workshops can be conducted face-to-face or online and can include:
- a single-day workshop
- multi-day intensives
- morning, afternoon or evening sessions
Whether you’re planning whole-school professional development for all staff members, executive leadership teams, or select groups within your school, our PD is designed to empower teachers and transform teaching and learning.
The following stories showcase how we supported Sapphire Coast Anglican College, Burraneer Bay Public School, and Junee High School on their 2024 Term 1 staff development days with tailored whole-school professional development.
Sapphire Coast Anglican College: Embarking on a school-wide QTR journey
Trish and Caroline from Sapphire Coast Anglican College (SCAC), a K-12 school, came to QTiP23 with very little knowledge of the QT Model or QTR process. Over the course of the conference the pair quickly became excited as they realised this could be just what their school needed.
Their enthusiasm transformed into reality when they signed up to the ‘Strengthening Induction through QTR’ project. Trish and Caroline plus two early career teachers, Lara and Steve, participated in a QTR workshop in Term 3, 2023 and undertook their first set of Rounds in Term 4, 2023.
“It was fantastic. We savoured the moment when we finished the Round and thought how incredibly lucky we were to be gifted time to partake in such valuable training,” said Trish.
“We took our coding discussion outside under a tree and I don’t think I’ll ever look at that part of the school again without thinking about QTR. It was pretty special – that’s for sure. Lara and Steve said that watching another colleague teach was some of the most valuable PD they’ve ever done.”
This positive experience led Trish, Caroline and Principal, David, to plan the implementation of QTR across their school. During their scheduled staff development day in January, QTR Adviser, Beth visited the school and delivered PD for 12 staff including leaders, primary, secondary and specialist teachers. They participated in a tailored one-day QTR workshop where they learned about the QT Model and the Rounds process, and experienced coding a lesson and having rigorous discussions in professional learning communities.
The feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, and Beth is now working to support SCAC on a strategic plan for implementing Rounds across the school.
The success story at SCAC highlights the ripple effect of tailored PD within a school community. With strong, public endorsement from their principal, Trish and Caroline embraced the QT Model and became advocates for its implementation across the school.
Burraneer Bay Public School: Enhancing assessment practice across the school
Burraneer Bay Public School also embarked on their QT journey during the Term 1 staff development day. Assistant Principal Curriculum and Instruction, Rachele, had participated in QTR at a previous school and was keen to share this knowledge with her colleagues. Burraneer Bay had a strategic focus on improving assessment, so Rachele worked with the QT Academy to develop a whole-school professional learning session that aligned their assessment strategies with the QT Model.
QTR Advisers Beth and Kate led the entire Burraneer Bay staff in a tailored one-day QT Assessment workshop. According to Rachele, the staff enthusiastically recognised the potential for QT to improve student outcomes through purposeful assessment practice. “The feedback has been so positive from our staff, and we are really looking forward to embedding QT into our assessment practice.”
Junee High School: Fostering collaboration and exploring the QT Model
Junee High School opted for an in-person twilight session, led by QTR Adviser, Rob, in 2023 to introduce all staff to the QT Model. This session provided Principal, Darren, with a platform to communicate his vision for QT at Junee High and for all staff to learn a consistent message on the approach. Rob then returned at the beginning of Term 1, 2024 to lead a full day tailored QTR workshop for all staff.
“Engaging all staff in this PD provided invaluable insights and resources for us to undertake QTR, and seamlessly integrated with our school’s ethos of fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation,” said Darren.
“The workshop exceeded all expectations. As principal, I am grateful for the transformative learning experience afforded to my staff, and eagerly anticipate the continued collaboration and growth with the QT Academy team and how this will inspire my staff in the future.”
Darren said that from the first discussions about Junee High’s goals through to planning and delivering the professional development, the QT Academy exceeded his expectations.
“Rob demonstrated a deep understanding of pedagogical principles and was able to tailor and employ a diverse range of instructional strategies to cater to various learning styles and experience levels of my staff.”
“[He was able] to address the specific needs and priorities of our school community, ensuring relevance and applicability.”
