How to become a recognised partner of the University of Newcastle’s QT Academy
There are a growing number of schools across Australia that have embraced Quality Teaching and have demonstrated a long-term, sustained commitment to their teachers, students and community through the QT approach. In recognition of this commitment, we’ve named these schools as recognised partners of the QT Academy.
What does being a recognised partner mean?
Becoming a recognised partner isn’t something that is purchased. This is about us recognising your school for its commitment to improving teaching and learning and for sharing our vision of quality teaching for every student every day.
Schools named as recognised partners of the QT Academy are provided with a range of media resources announcing this recognition including, email signature blocks, social media posts and website banners. Our recognised partners are listed on our website, have school stories published about their QT journeys, and are included on featured slides at QTiP each year.
How do we do become a recognised partner?
In the first round of this initiative, we invited schools we knew are committed to QT to become recognised partners of the QT Academy. However, we acknowledge there are many more schools out there working towards this goal. If you’re interested in becoming a recognised partner school, please reach out to our team.
To keep things consistent, we ask you to demonstrate that you have:
- Substantially embedded QT (Rounds, Assessment, Programming or the Model) into your practice, AND
- Presented, promoted and/or supported QT in schools beyond your own, AND
- A continued commitment to teaching quality is prominent in your strategic plan.
Possible forms of evidence include:
- Staff roster showing Rounds organisation
- School planning documents
- Meeting minutes or agendas with evidence of QT discussions (whole school, department/stage, staff development days)
- School PDP if appropriate
- Evidence of external presentation / promotion
- Attendance at workshops / webinars (supplied by QTA)
- Evaluation of impact of QT
- Staff bulletin / annual reports / school newsletter
- Anything else you would like to show us
This should not be an onerous exercise. You’ve already done the work of embedding QT in your school.
You do not need to provide all of the above forms of evidence. For example, a copy of your strategic plan, a presentation from QTiP and staff meeting agenda with QT as a discussion item (or some other similar combination of existing documents) would suffice.
How long does the recognised partnership last?
This is a three-year partnership. We will remind you approximately six months out from the expiry to gather the evidence to be a recognised partner of the QT Academy for the next three-years.
Where to from here?
If you are interested in becoming a recognised QT Academy partner school of the University of Newcastle’s QT Academy, get in touch with our team and we can work together on developing the evidence portfolio.
