About the QT Academy
The idea for an ‘academy’ to support teachers to deliver quality teaching was first conceived on a piece of butchers’ paper back in 2014. We’ve come a long way since then…

The QT Academy was launched in October 2020 by the University of Newcastle’s Teachers and Teaching Research Centre. It was established as a non-profit social enterprise centred on four key pillars:
- Deliver powerful professional development
- Translate research into practice
- Advocate for the profession
- Build a community of like-minded teachers
Since 2020, more than 7,500 teachers from across the world have participated in our professional development workshops, including more than 6000 teachers in our flagship program, Quality Teaching Rounds.
Our team of academics and teachers work collaboratively to translate research into practice through new programs aimed at enriching teaching, assessment practice and curriculum implementation. Our practical resources support teachers to reflect and refine their practice, and successfully implement QT. Our annual conference and regular webinars provide teachers the opportunity to engage with the latest educational research and share their experiences.
We listen to the teaching community to ensure what we do recognises the realities and complexities of teachers’ work. We amplify teachers’ voices by promoting their stories on our website and in the media, and presentations by teachers and school leaders are a highlight of our annual conference. Our academic colleagues at the Teachers and Teaching Research Centre advocate for the profession through their research, policy submissions and media engagement.
Our community has grown to more than 5000 members in the past four years. Members get priority access to news and research, regular free webinars, free resources, opportunities to connect and communicate with leading researchers, and a discount on all professional development. This community brings together like-minded educators who share our vision for quality teaching for every student, every day.
